This Longhorn steer is based on photos I took at the historic Leonis Adobe in Calabasas, California. I find his pattern to be bold and painterly, much like the oils I apply to the canvas. His expression struck me as guarded but curious. I was someone he was not familiar with, but could be potentially friendly. Perhaps a gifter of food? I'm afraid I wasn't allowed to feed him, but I did take many photos, and I plan to make them the basis upon which I create many more works of art.
